The North Bay Canoe Club has 50 years of strong sprint racing performance and is currently focusing on developing U10, U12, U14 and U16 programs. The club is looking to fill several positions for the 2022 season. NBCC is located on beautiful, clean Trout Lake that is excellent for both training and racing. North Bay is home to Nipissing University and Canadore College, with both schools offering various programs. Position: Adult Paddling Instructors

The adult paddling instructors will take direction and report to Head Coach. Instructor/s will run an adult paddling program twice a week in the evenings for new and returning adults. Paddling programs start in July and run through until August 2022. Programs are typically offered two days per week, with sessions running at least 2 hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide positive, fun and safe environment for adult participants
  • On water and on land supervision and instruction
  • Provide opportunities for adults to learn new skills and become proficient in various boats and or SUP.
  • Assist Head Coach with development of Adult Coach Programming, including making necessary changes to ensure the needs of participants are adequately being met.

Requirements:

  • Must have canoe/kayak experience (sprint experience is considered an asset but not required)
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • CKC Community Coach Certification (can be completed after hiring)
  • Entry Level Competitive Coach (ELCC) would be preferred
  • ORCKA or other certification would be considered
  • Dragon boat experience would be an asset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with adult paddlers
  • CPR, Standard First Aid certification
  • Pleasure craft operator card
  • Acceptable criminal background check
  • Bilingualism is an asset but not required
