Safe Sport

The North Bay Canoe Club has adopted and is committed to implement Canoe Kayak Canada's (CKC) Safe Sport Policy Manual.

The policies in this manual are intended to promote a safe sport environment in a manner that allows for consistent, immediate, appropriate and meaningful action should any issues arise, but also to prevent issues from arising by communicating expected standards of behaviour to all participants.

Two key elements of implementing the CKC Safe Sport Policies are screening and training. All NBCC volunteers must register with Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) and submit a basic online Volunteer Screening Application form. Most volunteer positions are considered Level 1 so no further screening or training is required, although Safe Sport Training is encouraged.  Volunteers that are in a position of authority such as club directors and race officials are considered Level 2 so they must also submit an Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC) and a Safe Sport Training completion certificate when registering with CKC.

In addition to an EPIC and completing Safe Sport Training, NBCC Coaches must also complete NCCP "Making Ethical Decisions" training.
