2023-24 Sprint Canoe Kayak Winter Training


Development: 10 and older as of January 1, 2024 or U12 and up in 2024

High Performance: 12 and older as of January 1, 2024 or U14 and up in 2024

     November 13, 2023 - April 26, 2024  
     (two week break from December 23 to January 7
     and one week break from March 9 to March 17)


Practice times:

   Development:          Tuesday and Friday, 5:00-7:00 PM
                                    Saturday, 9:00-11:00 AM
   High Performance:
                    Level 1:   Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 5:00 - 7:00PM
                                    Saturday, 9:00-11:00 AM

                    Level 2:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 5:00 to 7:00 PM
                                    Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:00-8:00 AM
                                    Saturday, 9:00-11:00 AM

(Practice times may change based on enrolment and daylight hours.) Development athletes may occasionally be invited to additional practices, typically Saturdays from 9:00 - 11:00 AM)


   Development:                      $400.00
   High Performance: Level 1: $650.00                                  
                                  Level 2: $850.00

A 10% Discount on all Sprint Racing Programs will automatically be applied to any order over $1500.00.


The six month NBCC Winter Training Program is offered in two streams: Development for athletes who participate in other sports but wish to remain involved with paddling in the off season; and High Performance for paddlers who want to focus on paddling as a primary sport and compete at the provincial and national level. High Performance is further split in to Levels 1 and 2 to align with Long Term Athlete Development guidelines for various levels of physical and mental development. Athletes will work on improving their strength, flexibility, aerobic capacity and paddling technique over the winter to prepare for next season.  .Activities include strength training at the club, cross country skiing, running, swimming, stretching,  ergometer workouts and pool paddling.
