Dates:

In the winter of 2024-25, there will be two separate Winter Training periods:
  • 2024 Winter Training 2024 from November 4, 2024 to December 20, 2024
  • 2025 Winter Training 2025 from January 6, 2025 to April 26, 2025

This split reflects the change in NBCC's off-season coaching approach starting in 2025 and breaks the winter program fees into two, smaller payments.

No practices are scheduled between December 20 and January 5 or from March 8 to 16, but recommended "on-your-own" workouts will be provided for those periods.

NBCC's  Winter Training Programs are offered in two streams: Development for athletes who participate in other sports but wish to remain involved with paddling in the off season; and High Performance for paddlers who want to focus on paddling as a primary sport and compete at the provincial and national level. High Performance is further split in to Levels 1 and 2 to align with Long Term Athlete Development guidelines for various levels of physical and mental development. Athletes will work on improving their strength, flexibility, aerobic capacity and paddling technique over the winter to prepare for next season. Activities include strength training at the club, cross country skiing, running, swimming, stretching, and ergometer workouts.
